The Broadband Premises Troubleshooting course covers the knowledge required to maintain, troubleshoot, and install triple-play services (video, voice, and data) for cable telecommunications customers. This interactive course focuses on understanding the fundamentals of hybrid fiber coax and passive optical networks to troubleshoot residential services. The course topics include delivering a positive customer service, RF theory, troubleshooting, test equipment, common measurements, and service restoration related to industry-wide standards and practices. This course also provides instruction on troubleshooting the latest technologies, such as Wi-Fi™, home networking, passive optical networks, MoCA, and untethered devices.

Certification

Upon completing the Broadband Premise Troubleshooting course and all three parts of the Broadband Premises Installation (BPI) and Service learning journey, learners will be prepared to earn the nationally recognized SCTE Broadband Premises Technician (BPT) certification.  The certification is designed for individuals interested in working in the cable telecommunications industry for a cable provider, contractor, or vendor.

  • 2 recertification unit (RU) towards SCTE certification renewal
